Position: Laboratory Team Lead
Location: Rome, Italy

Responsibilities: As the Cacao Quality Laboratory Team Lead, you will be entrusted with the management of all activities within our Cacao Quality Research and Development (R&D) Laboratory. Key responsibilities include planning and optimizing physical analyses, overseeing the processing of bean samples into cacao mass and chocolate, as well as managing training programs for experts from diverse cacao origins. Facility management and other related duties will also be part of your portfolio.

Required Skills:

  • Master’s degree in agricultural economics, food technology, agro-ecology, agronomy, food supply chains, or related fields.
  • Preferably 5 years of relevant experience in agroecology or food technology, from research, private sector, or policy perspectives, preferably within an international organization.
  • Specific knowledge and experience in the cocoa/cacao and chocolate sector, along with an understanding of sensory analysis and statistics.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research frameworks.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels and build consensus in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Well-developed organizational skills, with the ability to deliver on time and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Fluent command of English, both written and spoken.
